Home Education and Blogging: A Match Made in Heaven
These days my God is teaching me that He will use my gifts in ways that I have never dreamed of. Isn’t it funny how our God does that? He has foiled my plans again and sent me off in another direction. I am doing my best to be obedient like Abraham. God and I are entering territory that I have not been in before. He has given me the tools to navigate the trip, though. I am excited and scared to see where He leads me!
First of all, I have to tell you that I am Anti-Technology Girl who fell in love with and married Techno Man. (He really is my very own superhero!) I have consistently resisted the computer and always need help with something on it. Even just a couple of months ago I avoided checking my e-mail. Many times I have ranted at my hubby for spending hours on the computer just surfing or updating his Facebook page. There was no way that I would be tempted by the evils of the internet. Oh no! It isn’t social enough for me anyway. Who wants to look at a computer screen for hours at a time?
Then Techno Man suggested that I, Anti-Technology Girl, start blogging. “Why would I blog?” I asked. He insisted that this would be a great way to promote my business and establish my expertise in my field. It would replace the old e-newsletter I used to send out faithfully. “O.k. I’ll try it.” He had no idea what he was about to start! Now I am now Super Blogger Girl, and I can’t get enough! I love blogging!
I have always wanted to be a writer. I used to write poetry and short stories as a kid. I never pursued it because it is so hard to break into the writing world. I knew that I wouldn’t be able to make a living at it, at least not at first. I needed a dependable vocation and decided that teaching would be a better career for me.
However, writing has always been hanging on in the background for me. I was on committees involved in writing the school improvement plan or obtaining grants. I loved teaching writing in my classroom, too. I even had a job that involved writing curriculum. Yes, writing has never gone away, but it has always been on the fringe of what I do.
I went to school and got experience teaching. I know lots about the education world, and now I am even homeschooling my kids. Here comes the writing piece again. Now I blog about home education. This is a match made in heaven!
Thank you, God for sending me on this journey. I am excited to find out how I will get to Canaan! Help me to trust You to lead me.
I look forward to sending you all “postcards” along the way!

Will Sarah Palin be able to be a good mother and a good VP at the same time? The internet is all a flutter with this question, and many moms are wondering about this, too. And all of us mothers should wonder about it since no one else but a mom can relate to the demands of motherhood. While I was growing up, I watched my own mother balance the demands of both work and family, so I know that it takes a lot of organization, planning, and determination. I myself have yet to successfully balance work and family even though I keep trying to make it work. I find it difficult to do either job to the best of my abilities when I am faced with both sets of responsibilities. Someone always misses out on something.
Sarah Palin is currently balancing home life and working as a governor. Palin has an overwhelming job as a mother right now. She is juggling a new baby with Down Syndrome, a teenager who is pregnant, a son in the military, and she has two other daughters to raise. Plus she has a husband at home. The job as a wife and mother is pretty demanding, I think, and the campaign trail is also full of its own demands. The office of VP entails more challenging work than what a typical working mom deals with. The days are long. The needs are great. This job will demand more from Sarah Palin than anything else she has ever done.
So moms out there, what do you think? Is is possible to juggle the demands of motherhood and the office of the VP?

Please bear with me as I broach the subject of the breaking news about Bristol Palin. Sarah Palin made the announcement today about her daughter’s pregnancy.
Blogs and the news are all a buzz with speculation and judgment. McCain and Palin are trying to stop the hungry media machine by issuing this statement, and Obama is saying that a candidate’s family is off limits.
As a mother, this whole situation is heart wrenching to watch as it unfolds. I cannot imagine my dear daughter coming home with this news as I know first hand all that comes with motherhood. I also cannot imagine running for office and dealing with my family’s private life being exposed to everyone. Then I think about how the Bible teaches us not to judge others or we will be judged ourselves, (Matthew 7:1Matthew 7:1
English: World English Bible - WEB
7
1 “Don’t judge, so that you won’t be judged.) and that anyone without sin should cast the first stone (John 8:7John 8:7
English: World English Bible - WEB
7 But when they continued asking him, he looked up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw the first stone at her.”). I feel saddened by what is happening to the Palin family.
On the other hand, I see why people are talking about the Palin family. The announcement of McCain’s running mate came as a huge surprise to the country. People are wondering if this candidate was truly vetted. Sarah Palin is an unknown entity to the country at large, and of course people want to know more. It is hard to resist juicy stories that pop up online, and it is difficult to stop our imaginations from running wild without enough factual information. Who is Sarah Palin and what does she stand for? I feel angry that the country is in the dark about who Sarah Palin really is.
The best news I have read on the topic is that Obama refuses to discuss the Palin children. I completely agree that this is truly a matter that the family needs to deal with. With that said, I think that it is important for the media to find out more information about Sarah Palin’s politics and decision making process. People want to understand how she will vote on different issues, what she knows about foreign policy, and what her views are about the office of the vice president.
Wading through everything being said about Sarah Palin and her family has left my head spinning. Rather thatn keeping the media frenzy going, as one mother to another, I am going to pray for Palin and her family to have wisdom during this difficult time. I am going to pray for the country to learn more about Sarah Palin as a leader, thinker, and politician. I will also pray that the media frenzy would stop. I want to know more about Sarah Palin’s politics, not about her family life.
Who is Sarah Palin the politician? What do you want to know about her job qualifications?
